Food Security Initatives
Merrimack College recognizes there may be some students in the College community struggling with adequate access to food. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. Therefore, the College is taking a proactive approach to addressing student food insecurity/access and you can assist in this endeavor.
- Donated meal swipes. The Swipe It Forward program allows Merrimack students enrolled in a Merrimack College dining plan to donate one meal a week from their plan to support other students struggling with food insecurity/access. To donate a meal, you would swipe your card at the cashier/greeter station in Sparky’s Place in the Sakowich Center.
- Meals donated are loaded into a bank and are distributed at the request of the Dean of Students.
Your privacy is important to us. If you would like to request meals, please email deanofstudents@merrimack.edu.
